Research Participation

Current Studies

We conduct studies to better understand mechanisms involved in the grief process, and how to best support people after the death of a loved one. The Institutional Review Board responsible for human subjects research at The University of Arizona reviewed these research projects and found them to be acceptable.

Survey of Bereavement After COVID-Related Death (SOBACoRD)

We want to understand your grief after the death of your loved one. A short survey helps scientists document grief following the COVID-19 pandemic, and what your experience of loss was.

This online survey is for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one since March 2020. The survey includes questions about your thoughts, feelings, health, and how your loved one died.

If you would like to participate, you can directly access the survey by clicking here.

If you would like more information, or have questions about the study, please call 520-626-5383 or toll free 1-877-518-4630. Or you can email Dr. Mary-Frances O’Connor (griefresearch@email.arizona.edu).

We thank you for your willingness to help us understand the experience of grief and to advance science!

Study of Caregivers of a Family Member with Alzheimer’s or Dementia

Are you caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia? Do you want to be part of a research project that may help to improve well-being of caregivers?

The Grief, Loss and Social Stress Laboratory at the University of Arizona is conducting an online study to investigate the links between emotional strain and a range of psychosocial factors that may affect the way caregivers experience stress.

Participants will be asked to:

  • Respond to an online questionnaire (approximately 30 minutes)

Eligible participants:

  • Are a primary caregiver for a family member with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia

  • Have been a caregiver for 3 months or longer

  • Are able to read and answer questionnaires in English

  • Have access to the internet

If you are interested in participating in the study, please go to this link.
