We conduct studies to better understand mechanisms involved in the grief process, and how to best support people after the death of a loved one. The Institutional Review Board responsible for human subjects research at The University of Arizona reviewed these research projects and found them to be acceptable.

Exploring Grief Experiences Among Black Americans

Seeking research participants for a study to explore the significant gap in understanding the grieving experience of Black Americans. This research will explore how acknowledgment and validation influence grief severity through open-ended questions about personal experiences with grief.

Are you eligible?

  • Identify as Black American or African American

  • Born in the United States

  • Ages 18-85

  • Experienced a death within the past 6 months to

  • 3 years
